The Best Lip Balm For Every Budget

By on September 5, 2018

I have the worst lips in the whole wide world. 90% of it is my fault though, I’m a lip peeler. Whenever I’m bored or anxious my fingers go straight to my lips. Which happens pretty often, especially after an exam or a stressful day at work. However, I’ve found some super awesome products at different price points to make my lips kissable, even during the cold seasons.

I have tried a lot of lip products so here goes! You’ll even noticed that some of my favorites are actually really affordable!

Bite Lip Agave Lip Mask $26

It’s crazy how amazing this product is for dried chapped lips. I don’t even have to exfoliate! I just slap it on before I leave for work and it keeps my lips feeling moisturized till lunch. There is an even a choice to have color or shine in the product so you get a bit of color to show off those soft lips. Even though it is advertised as a lip mask, I put it on throughout the day instead of before sleep. No dead skin to peel off and no bloody lips by lunch! I splurged $26 on this and I can justify it so it is really good!

Aritaum Overnight Lip Mask $9

This is a my “affordable” lip mask. It is a South Korean brand so you might only be able to get it from Amazon or a Korea shopping site. This one has ginger and sugar as the key ingredient. It’s waxy but it does the job. I wear this over night to help with the waxy feelings. In the morning, my lips are soft and they stay strong for the day. But it doesn’t give me any color like the Bite lip mask so I have to rate it lower. I would say that if you wear lipstick throughout the day, this would be a very good product.

Rosebud Perfume Co.-Rosebud Salve $7

This product is my holy grail, apparently the singer Beyonce uses it. But anyways, I love it because I can use it for my lips and when the side of my mouth gets really dry this comes to the rescue. I can practically use it anywhere on my face without breaking out and I truly love it. This is the product I would recommend to anyone, any age and any price range. Any lips type too! The only bad thing about this is the smell, if you don’t like the smell of roses, don’t use it.

Burt’s Bees Moisturizing Lip Balm-Mango $6

Everyone knows Burt’s Bees, it’s not too pricey and it does the job. And it has more flavors so more choices I suppose. It’s natural unlike other products. The only reason why I don’t like Burt’s Bees is because it’s waxy. I’ve used it up till 2 years ago when I discovered Rosebud Salve.

Fresh-Sugar Lip Caramel Hydrating Lip Balm $18

This product is rated so high for some reason. But to be honest, it’s not the best lip balm on the market. For this product to work well, I have to exfoliate my lips. It has a sweet taste to it, which I really like and it makes my lips soft and kissable but it’s definitely is not worth the price. I ended up not buying a full size so I was only able to try this for a week. So maybe the experiment needed more time.

Laneige  Over Night Sleep Mask $20

This one is actually really highly rated and my friend swears by it. But it didn’t work out for me, I woke up to break out on the side of my mouth after 2 tries so it went right back to the store.

Lip Sunscreen

I’ve been using only 1 lip sunscreen which is the Aquaphor Lip Protectant Plus Sunscreen SPF 30 $11. I haven’t tried other ones so I can’t say how great the others are but this is the lip sunscreen I use. I’ve noticed I get more color in my lips if I use it continuously. Can’t go wrong with Aquaphor right?

Anyway, that’s it from me for this one! Hope this helps if you have a terrible habit of peeling your lips like yours truly.

TLDR; In the end, if you have some money to spend get the Bite Agave. If not, the Aritaum Lip Mask will do just the job!

See you next time!

Woman Engineer – Lifestyle: Setting Goals for 2018!

By on

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a really good holiday! Hopefully we all have the mentality of “new year, new you. I sure do and I’m so excited to start this year off with a bang!

There are a lot of things happening with me this year and there is a lot of preparations for those new things.

  • I’m graduating this year! I’m almost done with my Bachelor degree, 1 more semester. All I need to do is pay my fees and make sure I don’t fail any classes.
  • I’m preparing for my graduation trip, I still don’t know where to go yet…
  • Preparing to work full time at an engineering firm and significantly increase my monthly income.
  • Making Womanengineer.com awesome!
  • Start investing

These are the 3 steps I think of when setting new goals. It has helped me through 2017 and I hope that it will help you too!

Setting Goals

But in order for all this to happen the way I want, I have set out some goals for myself. Let’s talk about setting goals.

  • Set achievable goals– Don’t aim for the stars unless you have a good record of high achievement. Whenever I set out of this world goals, I tend to give up pretty quickly.
  • Make the goals specific and measurable– Goals need to be very specific. Don’t set general goals like losing weight. An example would be to set how many you would like to lose. I want to lose 5 pounds. You also need to figure out a way to get there. How will you lose 5 lbs? Where will you exercise? Why do you want to do it? And what is your schedule/plan?
  • Write them down and track your progress– Write down your goals and put them where you will see them. I write it down on a piece of paper and thumb tack it next to my computer so I see it every time when I sit down. It haunts me but the action of crossing it out is sooooo satisfying.

Let me hear about your 2018 goals! There are so many things I can learn from you guys and then put it into my goal list too!
